AREA CHURCHES WILL BE HOLDING SPECIAL SERVICES FOR THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY.   THANKSGIVING EVE SERVICES WILL BE HELD TONIGHT AT THE AMERICAN LUTHERAN CHURCH IN WINDOM, THE BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH IN STORDEN, THE RED ROCK UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, AND THE LUTHERAN CHURCH OF OUR SAVIOR IN WINDOM.   THE LUTHERAN CHURCH OF OUR SAVIOR IN WINDOM WILL ALSO HOLD A THANKSGIVING-DAY SERVICE.
A THANKSGIVING DAY MEAL WILL BE SERVED IN WINDOM.    THE LUTHERAN CHURCH OF OUR SAVIOR WILL HOST A TRADITIONAL THANKSGIVING MEAL IN THE CHURCH FELLOWSHIP HALL FROM 11:00 TO 1:00.  A FREE-WILL OFFERING WILL BE ACCEPTED, WITH PROCEEDS BEING DONATED TO THE WINDOM AREA SHARING CENTER.  TAKE-OUT MEALS WILL BE AVAILABLE.  TO ORDER A TAKE-OUT MEAL, CALL THE CHURCH IN ADVANCE AT 831-3522.  THERE WILL BE NO DELIVERIES. 
THE WINDOM ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY HELD A SPECIAL BOARD MEETING ON MONDAY.  THE BOARD VOTED TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF A LOAN BEING MADE TO SERVE AS GAP FINANCING FOR THE EAST HIGHWAY 60 HOTEL PROJECT.  THE E-D-A LEARNED THAT ADDITIONAL FUNDS WERE AVAILABLE FOR THE REVOLVING LOAN FUND, SO THE LOAN WAS CHANGED FROM 64-THOUSAND-DOLLARS TO 66-THOUSAND-975-DOLLARS.  ONCE THE FUNDS ARE REPAID, THEY WILL REMAIN IN THE REVOLVING LOAN FUND. 
THE WINDOM AREA HOSPITAL HELD A BOARD MEETING THIS WEEK.   THE OCTOBER FINANCIAL REPORT SHOWED A NET LOSS FOR THE MONTH OF JUST OVER 4-THOUSAND-100-DOLLARS.  THROUGH THE 1ST 6 MONTHS OF THE FISCAL YEAR, THE HOSPITAL IS NOW SHOWING A NET INCREASE OF JUST OVER 162-THOUSAND-DOLLARS.  THE BOARD REVIEWED A REPORT ON COMMUNITY BENEFITS.  THE HOSPITAL HAS PROVIDED JUST OVER 422-THOUSAND-DOLLARS IN BENEFITS TO THE COMMUNITY, INCLUDING DONATIONS AND SERVICES PROVIDED AS CHARITY.   
A REGULAR MEETING OF THE MT LAKE CITY COUNCIL WAS HELD THIS WEEK.   A PUBLIC HEARING WAS HELD ON THE NEW FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT ORDINANCE.  A PURCHASE AGREEMENT WAS APPROVED FOR CASEY’S GENERAL STORES TO PURCHASE A LOT IN THE NEW MT LAKE COMMERCIAL PARK.  THE COUNCIL REVIEWED OPTIONS FOR A PROJECT TO IMPROVE ENERGY-EFFICIENCY AT THE PUBLIC LIBRARY.  THEY CALLED FOR QUOTES ON THE PROJECT.  COUNCIL MEMBERS ALSO REVIEWED A PROPOSAL TO ESTABLISH A BICYCLE-SHARING PROGRAM. 
  
THE MT LAKE SCHOOL BOARD MET THIS WEEK.   THE DISTRICT AUDIT REPORT WAS PRESENTED.  IT SHOWED AN INCREASE IN THE FUND BALANCE.  THERE WAS AN UPDATE FROM THE BUILDING COMMITTEE.  THE BOARD APPROVED THE HIRING OF SEVERAL PARA-PROFESSIONALS.  THEY APPROVED PARTICIPATION IN A NEW INVESTMENT PROGRAM THROUGH UNITED PRAIRIE BANK.  MATT GOHR WAS APPOINTED AS THE CHAIRPERSON OF THE BUILDING COMMITTEE.  THERE WAS A REPORT ON THE UPCOMING SCHOOL DISTRICT SURVEY.
MT LAKE IS HOLDING TWO HOLIDAY-THEMED EVENTS ON FRIDAY.    CHRISTMAS AT THE VILLAGE WILL BE HELD AT 5:00 FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT HERITAGE VILLAGE.  THE BUILDINGS WILL BE DECORATED AND LIGHTED.  THERE WILL ALSO BE REFRESHMENTS, PULLED PORK SANDWICHES, WAGON RIDES, CRAFTS FOR KIDS, CAROLING AND PHOTOS WITH SANTA.   AT 8:00 FRIDAY NIGHT, AT THE MT LAKE CITY PARK, THERE WILL BE A LIGHTING CEREMONY FOR THE ANNUAL CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK DISPLAY, AND A DEDICATION FOR THE SNOWFLAKE GARDEN.
