MORE AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVES ARE BEING HELD IN THE AREA.    TODAY, A BLOOD DRIVE WILL BE HELD AT THE MT LAKE COMMUNITY CENTER FROM 1:30 UNTIL 6:30.   ALL BLOOD TYPES ARE NEEDED.  DONORS SHOULD BE AT LEAST 17-YEARS-OLD, OR 16 WITH PARENTAL PERMISSION.  YOU SHOULD WEIGH AT LEAST 110 POUNDS AND BE IN GOOD GENERAL HEALTH.  YOU WILL NEED TO SHOW IDENTIFICATION AT CHECK-IN.  MORE INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE ONLINE AT www.redcrossblood.org.
THE WINDOM E-D-A HELD A BOARD MEETING THIS WEEK.    THE BOARD DISCUSSED THE PROPOSED PHASE II EXPANSION OF THE NORTH WINDOM INDUSTRIAL PARK.  IT WAS REPORTED THAT SOME PROPERTY ON THE DOWNTOWN SQUARE WILL BE OFFERED FOR SALE.  THE E-D-A WAS CONTACTED TO SEE WHETHER IT HAD ANY INTEREST IN PURCHASING THE SITE.  FAST GLOBAL SOLUTIONS HAS RENEWED ITS LEASE ON THE SPEC BUILDING.  THERE WAS AN UPDATE ON A NEW EFFORT TO PROMOTE RETAIL DEVELOPMENT IN THE AREA.
COTTONWOOD COUNTY ATTORNEY NICHOLAS ANDERSON HAS BEEN NOMINATED FOR A JUDICIAL OPENING.  THE STATE COMMISSION ON JUDICIAL SELECTION IS RECOMMENDING 4 CANDIDATES TO FILL TWO VACANCIES IN BLUE EARTH AND ST. JAMES.  NICHOLAS ANDERSON IS THE COTTONWOOD COUNTY ATTORNEY, HANDLING CRIMINAL CASES, CHILD PROTECTION AND JUVENILE DELINQUENCY MATTERS.  HE PREVIOUSLY WORKED IN PRIVATE PRACTICE.  OTHER CANDIDATES INCLUDE STEPHEN LINDEE THE WATONWAN COUNTY ATTORNEY. 
LET’S CHECK MORE OF THE SPECIAL EVENTS BEING HELD IN NOVEMBER.   WINDOM AREA HIGH SCHOOL WILL PRESENT ITS FALL MUSIC THIS THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY.  A FALL BAND SHOWCASE WILL BE HELD MONDAY AT 7:00 IN THE OLD GYM AT WINDOM AREA HIGH SCHOOL.  AREA SCHOOLS WILL HOLD THEIR THANKSGIVING BREAK ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 23RD AND 24TH.  SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 25TH IS SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY.  THERE WILL BE EVENTS IN WINDOM AND MT LAKE.  THE COTTONWOOD COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY WILL HOLD ITS CHOCOLATE AND BLING EVENT ON NOVEMBER 30TH.    
THE SONS OF NORWAY STAVANGER LODGE WILL MEET AT 9:30 SATURDAY MORNING AT THE COUNTY MUSEUM IN WINDOM.  THERE WILL BE A PRESENTATION BY LODGE LIBRARIANS DOROTHY HIEBERT AND MARILYN ERICKSON.  THERE WILL ALSO BE A PRESENTATION BY FRANZ L. HELLING, A SONS OF NORWAY BENEFIT COUNSELOR, WHO WILL DISCUSS SOME OF THE SERVICES AVAILABLE TO LODGE MEMBERS.   THE PROGRAM IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  REFRESHMENTS WILL BE SERVED.      
TWO AREA STATE PARKS WILL BE CLOSING TO THE PUBLIC FOR A SPECIAL HUNT.    ACCORDING TO THE D-N-R, THE SPECIAL PERMIT YOUTH DEER HUNT WILL BE HELD SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AT LAKE SHETEK STATE PARK IN CURRIE AND BLUE MOUNDS STATE PARK IN LUVERNE.   BOTH PARKS WILL BE CLOSED TO VISITORS FOR THOSE TWO DAYS.  SPECIAL DEER HUNTS ARE HELD IN ORDER TO REDUCE THE DEER POPULATION IN A SPECIFIC AREA AND PROTECT OTHER NATURAL RESOURCES.
