TWO AREA STATE PARKS WILL BE CLOSING TO THE PUBLIC FOR A SPECIAL HUNT.    ACCORDING TO THE D-N-R, THE SPECIAL PERMIT YOUTH DEER HUNT WILL BE HELD SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AT LAKE SHETEK STATE PARK IN CURRIE AND BLUE MOUNDS STATE PARK IN LUVERNE.   BOTH PARKS WILL BE CLOSED TO VISITORS FOR THOSE TWO DAYS.  SPECIAL DEER HUNTS ARE HELD IN ORDER TO REDUCE THE DEER POPULATION IN A SPECIFIC AREA AND PROTECT OTHER NATURAL RESOURCES. 
THE WINDOM CITY PLANNING COMMISSION MET THIS WEEK.  MEMBERS CONTINUED TO REVIEW THE PROPOSED CITY RENTAL HOUSING ORDINANCE.  FURTHER CHANGES WERE MADE.  THE COMMISSION VOTED TO SEND A FINAL DRAFT TO THE WINDOM CITY COUNCIL FOR REVIEW AND POSSIBLE ACTION.  THE PLANNING COMMISSION ALSO APPROVED THE PROPOSED SCHEDULE OF FEES THAT WILL BE CHARGED UNDER THE ORDINANCE.  THE FEE SCHEDULE WILL GO TO THE COUNCIL FOR CONSIDERATION. 
A REGULAR MEETING OF THE JEFFERS CITY COUNCIL WAS HELD THIS WEEK.   FURTHER DISCUSSION WAS HELD ON THE TRANSITION TO RED ROCK RURAL WATER.  SOME LOCAL RESIDENTS HAD QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW THE CHANGE WOULD IMPACT RURAL CUSTOMERS OF CITY WATER.  THE COUNCIL APPROVED LIQUOR, CIGARETTE AND POOL-TABLE LICENSES.  A MOTION WAS APPROVED TO REQUEST GRANT FUNDING TO UPGRADE THE CITY’S VOTING MACHINES. 
A HOLIDAY TOUR OF HOMES IS BEING HELD THIS SUNDAY IN WINDOM FROM NOON UNTIL 4:00.  EACH OF THE HOMES WILL BE STAGED AND DECORATED BY LOCAL BUSINESSES AND DECORATORS.  TICKETS ARE $7 IF PURCHASED BY 5:30 THIS AFTERNOON.  TICKETS ON THE DAY OF THE TOUR WILL BE $10.  TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE ‘BARC’ BOX OFFICE.  CALL 831-2375 FOR INFORMATION.  TICKETS MAY ALSO BE PURCHASED DURING THE CHILI FEED ON SUNDAY. 
THE BUSINESS, ARTS AND RECREATION CENTER IN WINDOM IS HOLDING ITS ANNUAL CHILI FEED ON SUNDAY.  FOOD WILL BE SERVED IN THE BARC GYMNASIUM FROM 10:30 TO 1:00PM, WITH CHILI, SOUP, PIE AND BREAD.  A FREE-WILL OFFERING WILL BE ACCEPTED, WITH ALL PROCEEDS GOING TOWARD THE COST OF HEATING THE BUILDING.  ACCORDING TO BARC OFFICIALS, THE COST OF HEATING THE BUILDING AVERAGES ROUGHLY 130-DOLLARS A DAY. 
A MEDICAL BENEFIT IS BEING HELD FOR A MT LAKE AREA RESIDENT.     THE BENEFIT FOR MARY ALLEN WILL BE HELD SUNDAY AT THE LAKER GRILL IN MT LAKE.  A MEAL WILL BE SERVED FROM 9:30 TO 1:00PM.  A FREE-WILL DONATION WILL BE ACCEPTED.  THERE WILL BE A SILENT AUCTION.   MARY ALLEN IS WAITING FOR A KIDNEY TRANSPLANT, AND IS DRIVING TO MANKATO THREE TIME A WEEK FOR DIALYSIS.  PROCEEDS WILL HELP WITH MEDICAL EXPENSES.
