A Junior-High Knowledge Bowl meet was held Monday in Mt Lake, with 14 teams participating from 7 area schools.
This year, the Junior-High program has been expanded, allowing 5th and 6th-grade students to compete along with students in the 7th, 8th and 9th grades.
The Mt Lake “Emerald” team won the meet with 65 points. Jackson County Central was 2nd; Mt Lake Christian was 3rd; Cedar Mt #2 was 4th, and Windom was 5th.
Windom had four teams in the meet.
The Windom “Blue” team finished in 5th place with 41 points. Team members were Ryan Fauglid, Tyler Fauglid, Eli Freiwald, Isaac Armstrong, Ben Jaminyung and Noah Steffen.
The Windom “Gold: team finished in 9th place with 27.5 points. Team members were Kaylan Donchez, Maddie Alvstad, Leah Hauge, Tristyn Maras, Gabriella Symens-Otero and Kaylee Walenga.
The Windom “Eagles” finished in 11th place with 22 points. Team members were Kevin Bleess, Eric Heggeseth, Spencer Kleven, Alex Melenez Gomez, Chris Morales Parra, Josa Rodas and Cullen Slette.
The Windom “Pride” team was made up of 5th-grade students. Team members were Alex Cory, Brock Elston, Charlie Erickson, Bardyn Hanson, Quintin Tietz and Teigen Wormstadt.
Among other results, the Mt Lake “Jade” team finished in 7th place. Cedar Mt #1 finished in 24th place.
The next Junior-High Knowledge bowl meet will be held on Monday, October 23rd, hosted by Murray County Central in Slayton.
